ZaneHRA has hundreds of patented features that cannot be legally supplied by any other HRA provider. Some of these exclusive ZaneHRA features include:
Employees submit claims for health insurance premiums and other medical expenses to ZaneHRA online, via fax, or mail. Once submitted, claims are processed by ZaneHRA (typically in 1-2 hours) and employers click a button periodically to reimburse employees via check, payroll addition, or direct deposit. ZaneHRA never touches the employer's money—all reimbursements go directly from the employer to the employee at the time and method chosen by the employer.
The U.S. federal government has specific regulations that employers must comply with in order to reimburse employees for personal health insurance premiums without triggering ERISA plan status for the personal health insurance policies, violating HIPAA-privacy rules, or violating federal income tax regulations. ZaneHRA has built-in patented and/or patent pending safeguards and protections that automatically make employers compliant with these federal regulations. For example, most employers require that their employees obtain a minimum level of health insurance to obtain any of their HRA benefits—ZaneHRA automatically administers this requirement for employers (at no extra charge) by requiring that employees submit proof of health insurance (or appropriate waiver) to ZaneHRA with their first claim each calendar year.
Employees enrolled in ZaneHRA are automatically enrolled in a privacy-protected, online Customer Relationship Manager (CRM) that Licensed Benefits Consultants use to insure that each employee has proper access to information about personal health insurance policies and state-guaranteed coverage. This system automatically tracks which employees have purchased personal policies and provides de-identified reporting to employers. Employers and individual employees may opt-out of this CRM program at any time.
Employers may set up different classes of employees with completely different benefits, and monitor usage by class of employees in real-time. For example, an employer might offer to pay the first $100/year of pharmacy for all employees, but then pay 75% of the additional prescription cost for executives and 50% for managers. ZaneHRA allows virtually unlimited plan designs with 16 different categories of expenses (dental, vision, doctor visits, pharmacy, etc.) so employers can custom-tailor plans to maximize Recruiting and Retention. ZaneHRA allows employers to monitor expenses by class of employees in real-time and make appropriate adjustments to employee benefits at any time.
Employers can set up their entire HRA plan design online for each class of employees. Once set up, ZaneHRA automatically generates required ERISA, HIPAA and IRS documents and employees "electronically sign" all their documents with one click of a mouse. Since all SPD (Summary Plan Documents) are electronic and online, employers can modify benefits at any time ("no plan years") with electronic notification automatically sent to employees. For example, an employer may wish to increase monthly allowances for Floor Managers with Preexisting Conditions in order to hire a specific person whose child has juvenile diabetes.
Smaller employers (2-10) or employers in mainstream businesses (i.e. retail, food service) take advantage of ZaneHRA's decade of experience in Defined Contribution Employer Health Benefits and choose a proven simplied one- or two-class plan design. ZaneHRA has an extensive library of proven plan designs along with copyrighted employee communication tools—which are available online at no extra charge to every employer and employee enrolled in ZaneHRA.
From initial enrollment, to adding dependents, to termination—ZaneHRA automatically sends out the appropriate letters and/or emails to each employee—allowing them to add the names of their dependents. All of these copryrighted documents and employee communication tools are available free to every enrolled ZaneHRA employer and employee.
U.S. federal regulations require citizens to have a minimum deductible of $1,100/year ($2,200 for families) on their health insurance from all sources (including HRAs) in order to make tax-deductible contributions to their Health Savings Accounts (HSA). ZaneHRA automatically makes every HRA participant HSA-eligible by allowing employees to raise (just) their own individual deductible to this level while still receiving lower- or no-deductible HRA coverage for HSA-allowed first-dollar eligible items such as accident coverage or preventative expenses.
